    SEO Company Review: RankPay

If you want your business to do well on the internet, one of the things you want to learn or outsource is SEO (search engine optimization). SEO is pretty much the "Holy Grail" of the internet and everyone's clamoring to figure out how they can get their website or blog to rank high in the search engines.

Early in my internet career I soaked up all the information I could get about all the different SEO strategies and techniques used to get more traffic to my website. I was extremely hesitant about hiring just any SEO company to help me because I had heard about companies who were using "black hat" techniques that weren't favored by the search engines. The last thing I needed was for Google to ban my website!

Recently I found out RankPay, a SEO company based here in San Diego. RankPay offers SEO services, but unlike other companies, you don't have to pay any fees until your website has reached the ranking that you want.

To start off, you just enter the URL of your website. As an example, I entered the URL of one of my other blogs...

Next, you enter a keyword you'd like to rank for. I chose "how to get rich" and "build wealth" as my keywords...
The system then shows you what the monthly search volume for the keyword(s) are for each search engine, the "SEO Opportunity" - the chances are of you ranking (I was given an "Average" and "Poor") - as well as the monthly cost for ranking. In the example below it shows that I would have to pay $132 a month to rank in the Top 3 in Google for the keyword phrase "how to get rich".

What I really like about this service is that there aren't any long-term contracts that I have to buy into and I can cancel the service at any time once my ranking is achieved. However, do keep in mind that once you stop the service it's not guaranteed that you will always keep that same ranking. SEO is an ongoing process and the search engine algorithms change all the time.

I don't have any other SEO companies to compare RankPay to because as I said earlier, I've never used these types of services before. However, if you have any experiences to share, I'd love to hear from you - whether it's about doing SEO on your own or with a SEO company. Send me an email at maria [at] salondemaria [dot] info or leave a comment!

To find out more about how RankPay works, visit the Rank Pay blog or watch the video below...

By the way, RankPay also has an affiliate program if you're interested in making money by referring people to use their service...

    Create Your Own Business Opportunities

Feeling down and out because either you can't find clients or sales on your website are down? I highly recommend reading Bob Younce's post, The Violent Truth of Opportunity. I've always been one to create my own opportunities when doors have been shut in my face.

Here's an example of how I created my own opportunity recently...

A View From the PlaneOne of my dreams is to be able to travel around the world and be paid to do it. I didn't know exactly how this would happen, but I knew it was possible somehow. I started researching travel writing and I kept thinking to myself, "Wow, that would be great if I could be hired by a travel magazine to visit these exotic places." I had also just read the book Eat, Pray, Love and started wishing that some publisher would contact me and pay me to write about my travels...

Well, I came across a couple opportunities for travel writing but the pay was either too low or nothing at all - well, except for a byline - which is ok because I could add that to the resume. However, I wanted to do something that was ongoing and had full "control" of. I wanted to do something where there was a potential to make a great deal of money or get free travel down the road.

Then I thought to myself, Why not just start a travel blog and see where that takes you? And Voila! Travel Today was born.

By the way, if you love to travel and have thought about starting your own travel business, I recommend checking out VacationCareers.com.

Social Media Blogs to Check Out

'How Time Has Changed' flickr photo by Oliver WidderSince the focus is on social media/marketing this month, I thought I should point out some of the blogs that I've been reading that are geared towards providing information, tips, and resources to help you boost your social media presence:

Chris Brogan - Chris is a speaker and co-founder of PodCamp and pretty much knows every facet of internet communications. Whether it's videoblogging, podcasting, or blogging, Chris knows it all. I like what he says in this post, The Target Is Not the Weapon.
"In social media, the tools aren’t the same thing as reaching a goal. If you’re a marketer looking to use these tools, then make the first goal to learn how the community moves, listen to its ebbs and flows, and then make the next goal to try starting conversations."
I also like to read Brian Solis' PR 2.0. Brian is the owner of FutureWorks PR and offers a great deal of insight on the convergence of public relations and social media.

Also, here's a great blog I discovered today: The Social Media Marketing Blog, written by Scott Monty

    Joe Vitale's Secret to Productivity

One person whom I admire for his success in internet marketing is Joe Vitale. He's the author of so many books and some of you may remember him in that movie, The Secret. Here he is offering his secret to productivity...

I agree with what he said about how ideas come to you and that you should act on them now or else it gets passed on to someone else. I've received so many ideas for blogs and have acted on every one of those ideas. If I hadn't I think I'd still be working full-time for someone else!

How Do I Manage So Many Blogs?

Blogging StarbucksMany people have asked me how I manage so many blogs, so I decided to take one day out of my life and kept track of everything I did. Now, mind you, this particular day is actually "down time" for me because I didn't have any content/article writing clients. I actually had just finished a project for someone a couple days earlier. Otherwise, I probably would have stayed up later...Anyhoo, read A Day in the Life of a Blogger over at my personal blog.

How are you spending your time?

May Newsletter Focus: Social Media/Network Marketing

The May newsletter edition of Online Business Resources (free subscription) focuses on Social Media/Network Marketing. It's a topic that is growing in popularity across the internet and Twitter is sure feeling it because just about every blog I read this week was talking about Twitter!

I invite you to join the Online Business Resources group and read the newsletter if you're a newbie in internet marketing and online business. Within the May newsletter you'll find links to a few free ebooks that cover social network marketing.

For those of you who are "vets" when it comes to social media, you'll probably want to read Dan Schawbel's post, Claim Your Brand Name on Social Networks or Suffer. Dan uses Seth Godin as an example and offers some tips on what you can do to protect your brand online.

Oh, and by the way, if you already have social networking profiles, I invite you to connect with me through any of the sites listed below...
