The "Greatest Secret" of Setting Business Goals

What is the greatest secret of all? This is what Marc Allen helps us discover in his book titled The Greatest Secret of All. I browsed through the book the other day while I was at the bookstore and came away with a few valuable nuggets of information to share with you...

In regards to achieving your goals in life, Marc Allen says:

"Great success is the result of a great many small steps, all moving toward a clearly defined goal. That is the secret of manifestation."
When we look at a goal, many of us get overwhelmed by the work that needs to be done to achieve that goal. We then become frozen with inaction because the goal seems too far-fetched. Perhaps fear plays a big part in this as well. However, if you just take it one step at a time, one day at a time, you'll gain momentum. Little by little you get closer to that goal.

Another topic that Allen talks about is affirmations. The way you word your business affirmations is important in manifesting your goals. We are advised to start affirmations with:

"In an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way..."

Let's say that one of your goals is to start a successful online business. You would write down as your affirmation:

"In an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way, I am now building a successful online business."

After you write down that affirmation, sit quietly for a moment and you'll begin to receive ideas on actions you could take to start on that journey to building an online business. Don't make any judgments about the ideas that come to you. Just write them down.

You'll find that one or more of those ideas will really resonate with you. Take action today on one of those ideas. A few years ago my goal was creating multiple streams of internet income. My first idea was to sell my paintings and jewelry via a website, so my first step was to find out how to build a website. I learned all about what good website design consisted of. Little by little I taught myself all about building a website and how to market it online.

What worked for me was setting aside time every day to work on my goal. Sometimes I would only be able to work on my website only ten minutes a day, but I did it anyways. Ten minutes a day equals 300-310 minutes a month. That's enough time to give you the knowledge you need to advance to the next level of your goal. Once you build the momentum, you'll find that the Law of Attraction will start to work for you. Business resources and people will start to show up in your life. The guidance you need to get closer to that goal will appear as if on cue. You'll start to get really excited because you'll begin to realize your purpose and passion is propelling you towards something truly magnificent!

10 Questions To Ask Yourself Before You Start an Online Business

This post contains questions for beginners who want to start an online business, but if you're already an established entrepreneur, perhaps these questions will help you reevaluate your business to see if there are things you could work on or expand on...

    1. Who is going to build your website? Will you invest the time and resources to learn how to build a website or will you hire someone to do it for you?

    2. Which company will host your website?

    3. How will you market your business online? Pay-Per-Click ads? Article writing? Start a blog?

    4. Should you hire a virtual assistant to answer customer service emails or will you deal with customers yourself?

    5. Are you passionate about your business? If you're in it for the long haul...Can you picture yourself doing this five years from now?

    6. Where would you like your business to be ten years from now? Having a vision for your business is important to keep you inspired and motivated.

    7. Who is going to manage your networks? Do you have the technical know-how if something goes wrong with any of your IT connections?

    8. Will you get a business loan to fund your business or will you be bootstrapping your way to success?

    9. Who will be your mentor? I think it's important to find someone to learn from. You don't necessarily have to meet this person. Just find someone who inspires you to keep going. I recommend subscribing to at least 2-3 online business blogs to help you with ideas. Get involved in the online business community.

    10. Is your business designed to serve others? Do you have a customer service philosophy that you will commit to?

Bonus Question: Are you saying this affirmation to yourself every day?

Inspirational Business Quote and Free Book

"You are, at this moment, standing, right in the middle of your own acres of diamonds." -- Earl Nightengale

This quote reminds me of a book I read at the beginning of my online business career: One Minute Millionaire. This book was so inspiring and I highly recommend that you read it!

Some Things You May Not Know About Online Shoppers

LinkShare Referral PrgIf you're a member of the Linkshare network and were unable to attend the Linkshare 2008 Summit last week, you might want to check out Lisa Picarille's notes. Here are a couple statistics she shared that caught my attention:

*High value customers (those spending $800+ online each year), are particularly diligent in their online research of specific products and services (when bought either online or offline).

*87% of all online buyers visited multiple Websites before purchasing a product.

The role of social media is growing among young online shoppers:
*1% of online shoppers ages 18-24 are aided in their purchase decision process by social and community sites.

*78% of these younger shoppers think that adding elements of social/community features would improve the sites they use.

If you're an online business who targets high value customers, you may want to think about how you present products and services to potential customers. As a consumer in this category, I tend to visit several websites before I decide to purchase. I pay more attention to those websites or blogs that offer thorough and honest reviews. If you can present yourself as a trusted resource, you're more likely to attract repeat visitors who buy from you.

Adding social networking features to your website adds more value to your business. Social features can include polls, customer ratings, forums, or even a MySpace page. Although these social and community sites don't really aid in young shoppers' purchase decisions, I would guess based on my own online shopping experience that older shoppers tend to rely on the opinions of the online community when making decisions.

Have you ever seen a product on the market and thought to yourself, "Ah, I could've thought of that!" Two Things That Will Ensure Online Business Success

When it comes to having an online business, there are two things that will ensure your success:

    1. Great customer service - contrary to what Jeremy of ShoeMoney believes

    2. Valuable content

I've talked before how customer service is important - in fact, I invite you to visit my customer service blog to get all kinds of tips and information. Today, however, I'd like to focus on providing valuable content. Ok, this may sound very cliche, but I'm going to say it anyways:

    Content Is King!

If you want to drive traffic more traffic to your blog or website, you're going to have to provide information that is valuable and relevant to your reader. All you internet marketing veterans out there can surely attest to this. In this "Information Age" content is going to be a driving force that attracts people to your website. Are you providing content that is useful or helpful for your readers?

    Three Questions To Ask Yourself
Writing better blog posts or articles should be a priority and this is something I'll continue to work on with my own websites and blogs. As I'm writing a blog post or article, I ask myself a few questions:

    1. Does this information inspire the reader to take action?

    2. Has this been said before? If it has been said before, I make sure to add my own experience or opinion on the topic.

    3. Am I linking out to useful resources?

What methods or techniques have worked for you in building a successful online business?
