Internet Dating Websites on the Rise

There once was a time when people were embarrassed to say that they actually peruse Internet Dating websites for a potential soul mate, but nowadays with so many people online, it has actually become a way of life. People meet online all the time, so why not?

According to comScore, internet dating is big business that raked in 22.6 million users this year alone. In recent years I've seen many of these online dating websites spring up and I recall reading about a guy who made millions of dollars just by placing Google Adsense ads on his dating website - which made me seriously contemplate starting one myself or even starting some kind of matchmaking service.

But then again, I'm still getting all my other businesses under control! So many ideas, so little time ;)

However, the types of websites I think will do really well are these review sites like 5 Star Dating where people can go to review dating sites and get tips and resources.

101 Ways to Monetize Your Blog and My Top Income Streams for 2007

What I love about having an online business and blogging is the myriad of ways you can monetize your website or blog. InsideCRM shares 101 ways to monetize your blog without irritating your readers.

As I reflect on all the income that came in during 2007, three income streams stand out for me:

    1. Google Adsense - it keeps increasing every month even though I do get irritated now and then because I'm not getting paid for some clicks (according to my MyBlogLog stats). But then, that revenue is made up with other income streams.

    2. Text link ads - I've been receiving many private offers from companies to do sponsored text links or blog posts - which means I don't have to rely so much on PayPerPost or SponsoredReviews - plus I get to keep all the money for myself ;)

    3. Free stuff - Well, it's not so much an "income stream" in terms of money, but I love getting free beauty products to review over at my blog, Beauty Is Within. Now, if I could just get a free laptop ;)

Inspire Others by Publishing a Book in 2008

What's the one thing you can do in 2008 to inspire more people and at the same time make money in the process?

    Publish a book!

If you've been in internet marketing for awhile, I'm sure you're familiar with ebooks, but what about actually publishing your own physical, page-turning, carry-it-with-you book? Although I know that there is new technology now where you can take your ebooks with you on the go, regular books are still selling!

It's been one of my dreams to publish a book. I found inspiration after doing this past interview with Phil Gerbyshak who self-published his own book.

So, what step can you take today to realize your dream of being a published author? Well, one of the things I've been doing is researching Book Publishers. I'm sending off for this free self-publishing guide to get the ball rolling...

My goal was to have my own book finished by the end of the year, but my focus has been on blogging. So in 2008 I'm making the commitment to spend at least 30 minutes a day working on my book. I'll keep you updated ;)

The One Thing You Need to Guarantee Success in Business

Of course all of us want to be successful in life, but what is it that separates people who achieve success from the ones who don't?

    They have a vision.

I just started reading the book, Do You! by Russell Simmons (with Chris Morrow) and so far it is a very inspiring book. He talks about the beginning of his brand, Phat Farm, and how he had this vision of where he wanted to take the company. There were all these naysayers who didn't believe in his vision, but he stuck with it and ended up selling Phat Farm at the tune of $115 million.

Here's what Simmons says about vision:
"When you do have a clear, strong vision, you will see results. People love to be around someone who is crystal clear on their future. Your confidence is going to give them direction. People will follow someone who's clear with his vision, probably because they're not clear on their own..."
My best friend just recently confessed to me that she thought I was "crazy" to leave the corporate world and go into blogging. However, after awhile she saw that I was determined in my vision to make a living from working at home. She started to see that I was making real money from it and she was inspired to continue with her own business.

What about you? Do you have a vision for your business? For your life? Can you describe it in detail? Do you trust that this vision will happen for you?

Matthew Britt writes an excellent post about this topic: Vision - The Art of Seeing Without Eyes

Are You Making These Mistakes in Your Affiliate Marketing Business?

    Hang On

Are you losing faith in your affiliate marketing business? Do you think that internet marketing "sucks"? Well, you need to read this article posted at the Revenue Magazine website written by Rosalind Gardner, author of The Super Affiliate Handbook. Gardner says that mistakes lead to success and she offers a bunch of tips on how to take your internet marketing business to the next level.

I like this piece of advice:
"...when you give up on a project too soon, you guarantee failure. So, put any unrealistic expectations of overnight riches aside, accept that there is work to do and stay with your project for the long haul."

Keep in mind that an affiliate marketing business is not a "get rich quick" scheme. It's just like any business - you need to put in the work to make it successful!

And speaking of taking business to the next level, have you set your 2008 business goals yet? What advice from Rosalind Gardner can you take and implement in your business now so that you start 2008 off with a bang?

The Search For Online Store Software Continues

Creating an ecommerce/online business website can be a tedious project. I should know, I've created my own websites from scratch! I pretty much taught myself some basic HTML and with the help of my current hosting provider I've been able to build those websites using HTML and a WYSIWYG editor. Now my websites are ready for new designs (they are so stuck in the early 2000's!) and the big project for 2008 will be to completely redo them. In my search for full-service website providers, I came across AmmeriCommerce, a company that provides online store software.

After taking some time to review the site, I have put AmmeriCommerce at the top of my list. Here's why:

    1. Creating your product catalog and store sections is as easy as filling out an online form. No knowledge of HTML required!

    2. They provide analysis and detailed reports of what words people are using to come to your site.

    3. You can find out what people are searching for when they come to your site (via the search box) and know if there are products that they're looking for that are missing from your website

    4. Get information about visitors who abandon their shopping carts and what pages they visited

    5. You can have your own affiliate program (love this!)

For those of you who know me, you know how much customer service means to me. I called their 800 number to get more information about their Bronze Level pricing and features. Well, I didn't have to wait to talk to a sales rep! Kenneth happily answered my questions. He was very helpful and thorough in his response to my questions.

I highly recommend testing out AmmeriCommerce with their 14-day free trial. I have another couple weeks to decide which online store software I'm going to go with, but it looks like I might end up with AmmeriCommerce.

Which website hosting provider do you use? Why?

Customer Service Carnivale: The Finding Inspiration Edition

Customer Service Carnivale logoWelcome to the Customer Service Carnivale! I wanted a change of scenery, so to speak, so instead of hosting it at my customer service blog, I've decided to do it here! I want my readers to realize that even though you have an online business, you still have to give good customer service. You can't hide behind your computer if a customer has a complaint about your business ;)

Hopefully you will find inspiration here to keep doing your best! So without further ado...
    • GP has many inspirational thoughts in the post, Fueling the Fire of Passion posted at Innside Montana-Your Home at the Range. I like this little tidbit: "Persistence . No such thing as “giving up” in a successful person’s mind. Just like the Energizer Bunny, they keep going and going. As they say, success is 98% showing up, 2% talent." Customers love people who are persistent in helping them solve their problems!
    • Here's another post by GP that I love, Riding Lessons. All these lessons can be applied to people (customers) as well!
Well, that's it for this edition! Thanks to all of you who submitted an article and thanks to you for reading ;)

The next Customer Service Carnivale is on December 17 (mark your calenders!) and the Envision Blog will be hosting! Submit your customer service related articles by December 15th...

How To Build the Mindset of a Successful Entrepreneur

Are you wondering why your online business isn't doing so well or why you just can't seem to attract the customers you want?

Maybe it's because of the old limiting beliefs that you have harbored in your mind. Have you ever thought, "It's going to take hard work...", "I'm frustrated with my business", or "This online business isn't working for me..."?

Well, I just received a newsletter from James Ray and wanted to share his inspirational thoughts with you to help you overcome those negative beliefs. This tips will help you start building a mindset of a successful entrepreneur:
    • Set a clear and measurable goal. Make it one that you are excited about accomplishing. The human spirit will not invest itself in mediocrity--so if you want to succeed in overcoming limiting habits, your goal must create passion! As you set your goal, two things are important: it must be specific and measurable. Write "I want to make $70,000" versus "I want to make more money." When your goal is measurable, you will know exactly when it is accomplished.
    • Write your goal in the present tense. This will cause you to fully associate to the achievement of your goal. Your unconscious mind is totally deductive, and therefore, it accepts anything that your conscious mind gives it without question. Consequently, correct phrasing is imperative. Write your goal as "I am so happy that I earn a minimum of $70,000 per year" versus "I want to earn $70,000 per year." Write your goal as if you already have it right now.
    • Write your goal every single day, carry it with you everywhere you go, and read it as often as possible. Remember, you are learning habits of the highly successful-- new ways of thinking and acting. Therefore, if you get tired, or you find yourself thinking this step is redundant, realize that it has taken years to create your current programming and it will take concentrated effort for it to be replaced.
    • Take action and make daily decisions with your goal in mind. In other words, ask yourself the question "What decision would I make right now or what action would I take right now as a $70,000 income earner?" When you answer the question--act! If you act based upon your current status, you will continue to create your current results.
Here's a video of James Ray talking about beliefs - how they start out as an idea, the reticular activating system in our brain and how it relates to the information we process...
