Are you just starting out on this blogging journey and looking for ways to get more visitors to your blog? I know that getting traffic to your blog is one of those things that we all want to do, so I thought I’d offer these five tips:

1. Submit your posts to social networking sites like Digg or Bizzbites. I read somewhere that you should submit every single post to Digg, but I don’t know if I would do that. Unless your post is bringing real value to a reader, I would be a bit choosy about what posts I submit. But then again, you never know what people will or won’t like. Your rant about President Bush’s latest speech may just become popular ;)

2. Visit other blogs and post comments. Blogging is a two-way conversation, so if you read someone’s article and have thoughts to share, then do so! When you make a comment, you also create a link to your own blog.

A word of advice on making comments…Comments are not an open invitation to leave comment spam! Would you like it if someone came to your blog and left all that jibber jabber that doesn’t make sense? This is where the Golden Rule should be followed ;)

3. Join communities like MyBlogLog. When you join MyBlogLog, you list all your blogs under your profile. You also get to add their little widget that displays the pictures of all the people who visit your blog - that is, if they have a MBL account as well.
Another community similar to MBL is BlogCatalog. It works relatively the same way.

4. Join blog carnivals. Blog carnivals are where you submit a blog post to a host who in turn links to your blog. Get more information at Blog Carnival.

5. Submit your blog to blog directories. The Online Marketing Blog has a very good list of RSS and blog directories.

I have to remind myself sometimes that blogging is still a relatively new way of communicating or making money online and there are people out there who are looking for how to’s and information.

One of my goals with this blog was to provide an array of information - for beginners and advanced bloggers or online entrepreneurs. What may be obvious to me isn’t so obvious to a beginner.
